Q1. Why did you choose design as a career ?

I chose design as my career because since my childhood I was really fond of the outfits that people wear. I’m also interested in learning more about colours, it’s structure and functions. Later on I learned everyday observing seasonal changes in nature. I love to sketch more, learn to explore more to develop and visualise new designs. Since my childhood, I was so much inspired by Barbie dolls. Barbie is my role model. I used to design and do styling, photograph my dolls. I love the looks created by me and explore more ideas in developing a new design.

Q2. Where do you visualise yourself five years from now?

I had been spending my whole time and life with my Barbie doll since childhood. This made me think and rethink about the next ideas to be developed. And illustrating various designs, observing trend changes around the world, watching fashion and design related programs, magazines etc helped me very much. I’m still learning to grasp more ideas from the world. I am trying to visualise a greater development in designing and surely a new trend and a new cultural change.

Q3. Whom do you consider your mentor/Guru and why?

Firstly my parents and teachers who supported me in anything and everything and helped me to solve my problems and understood my pain. I consider my parents as my role model. Secondly my Barbie dolls, as it changed my whole life making me step into the field of fashion and designs. Hence Barbie dolls are my role model. She has changed my life destiny.

Q4. What is the basic theme of your designing and why?

I like to design more western wears especially beach wears, bold dresses and floral prints. Mainly beach and resort themes are my themes because I come from the coastal area and my lifestyle is also based on that culture. It helped me to develop designs based on marine animals, flowers,sea, dusk, dawn and cats.

Q5. Write your autobiography ?

I am Abhijith.A, I’ve just completed my masters in fashion designing from Army Institute of Fashion & Design, Bangalore. Now I’m a fresher looking for the opportunities in fashion, textile design, graphic design background in the fashion industry.
