Q1. Why did you choose design as a career ?

I choose fashion designing as a career because it helps me express myself. From my childhood I was into art & craft and liked experimenting. Designing for me was my getaway from the rest of the world. The main reason was how it amazes me that one can use clothes as a medium to communicate and connect to each other and how everything  we create is related to our ancestors & to our heritage & everything we see around us on a day to day basis. Everything we make is inspired by our history of fashion and how we modify it with our thoughts for our future. It caters for 3 things: what a person needs, what a person wants & what a person desires.

Q2. Where do you visualise yourself five years from now?

Well it is a long time to think about. But in these 5 years I would like to train myself and gain as much knowledge as possible, I see myself as a growing and understanding designer where I can take on additional responsibilities and tasks. Once I gain the experience,I would like to open my own label and build it from scratch.

Q3. Whom do you consider your mentor/Guru and why

I consider everyone I meet my mentor/guru. because everyone whom i have crossed paths has taught me something or other.it’s very exciting to meet new people, because everyone will have something different and new to teach you, be it someone younger than you or older. but especially my Mom, she taught me many things, as she was also interested in designing and creating new things, but couldn’t pursue it because of personal reasons. So, she was with me everytime for every step I took in this field. from designing to creating to sewing etc everything. and i couldn’t thank her any more for it . She saw her dreams in me .

Q4. What is the basic theme of your designing and why?

There is no basic theme for designing . designing is all about one’s thoughts after seeing something . it can be anything, and no one can judge you because it’s all about expressing your thoughts . and everyone expresses themselves differently. one can never be sure of how he/she feels after seeing or experiencing something. so each theme is different from one another . what remains same is the process, which is – taking inspiration, research, making mood board, color board, client board, sketching, exploring, final sketches, fabric selection, & last making the design into a dress.

Q5. Write your autobiography ?

I am bhumika chipper, a fashion designer & graphic designer, who wants to add additional value to our heritage and our history. I like to experiment with modern & indian culture.I am keen to learn new things and experiment.  meeting new people and making friends make me feel alive and makes me excited.
As a person I am fun loving, over enthusiastic, too emotional, adventurous and talkative person.
