Q1. Why did you choose design as a career ?

I have always been a child that liked standing out but I have always been very shy. I had a knack for art since my early childhood days and art was my way of expressing myself. I chose design as my career because it gave me the creative freedom and by God’s grace I managed to get into NIFT. There has been no looking back since then. 

Q2. Where do you visualise yourself five years from now?

Five years from now i see myself being learning still. I believe learning is a never ending process and you learn from every single step in life. So whether I will be working in a corporate surrounding or will be pursuing my dream of having my own label I would still be learning from my experiences. I would also consider exploring into other streams apart from fashion such as graphics or content creation. 

Q3. Whom do you consider your mentor/Guru and why

I do not have a particular mentor to name but there are a lot of sources I draw my inspiration from, mostly from my surroundings. Also, I absolutely adore a few Indian/International designers and take inspiration from their style or thought process. 

Q4. What is the basic theme of your designing and why?

Most of my designs reflect who I am as a person. If I have to define my aesthetic I would say it’s quirky and colourful. I like anything and everything that is eye-catching. A huge part of my aesthetic sense comes from my own life. I have always been attracted to things labelled ‘not-normal’. I have the notion that wearing brighter colors lifts your mood and makes you feel cheerful. That reflects in my designs as well. 

Q5. Write your autobiography ?

If I had to write my autobiography my character will be a stubborn, rebellious one. It would be the story of a small town girl who makes her mistakes and learns from them. She faces adversity with a strong face. However as of the ending it’s still a work in progress.
